Ken joined Rotary in 1980 as a member of the Concord-Diablo Rotary Club in Concord. In 2000, after having served as Club and Charitable Foundation Treasurer for 19 of his 20 years, Ken left that club and joined ours. With Clayton Valley, Ken has served as our Club President (2010-2011), was Rotary Foundation Director (2012-2022), Charitable Fund Treasurer (2004-2010), Club Service Director and newsletter editor. After graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara, Ken began his working career as an enlisted person in the U.S. Air Force, serving his 4-year enlistment in warm and sunny Honolulu, Hawaii. This was followed by a five-year stint with the Internal Revenue Service in San Francisco, where he was a Revenue Agent auditing individual and business taxpayers.

Upon completion of his time with the IRS, Ken became a Certified Public Accountant (now retired) and opened an accounting practice first in Concord and then moving to Walnut Creek. As a sole practitioner CPA, Ken provided tax and accounting services to individuals and small businesses. The business was started in 1980 and closed in 2019.

Ken and his wife, Phyllis, are both UC Santa Barbara graduates, which is where they met. They married in 1970 and have two sons, Daniel and Robert. Both of their sons are also married, and each has a son and a daughter. Ken and Phyllis are longtime residents of Concord.
